The key eyewear trends for autumn and winter 2026–2027 are softness, lightness, understated elegance and carefully considered details.

Eagle Visions assortment planner Anu Leinemann encourages trying on the latest styles with an expert: “Distinctive details and colours truly come into their own when you take the glasses off the shelf and try them on.”

Lightweight materials and subtle details

Lightweight materials and a polished look are currently at the forefront of eyewear fashion. Look a little closer and you will discover interesting details such as layered effects, bands of colour and small metal embellishments. Solid and gradient lens tints complete the look and are also available for photochromic lenses.

According to Leinemann, these trends reflect the idea of glasses as an everyday accessory that can also complete a more dressed-up look.

“Comfortable, understated yet stylish frames work well with today’s relaxed, sporty fashion, while distinctive details let you express your personality and elevate an outfit,” she sums up.

Earthy shades meet bold colour

Earthy shades of brown and green are trending, but there is plenty of room for bolder choices too.

“Translucent frames continue to be a trend, although the colour palette has become slightly deeper and darker,” says Eagle Visions assortment planner Anu Leinemann.

“Other almost-black shades offer a softer alternative to black glasses.”

The season’s favourite look is soft and oval

Reminiscent of the 1990s, oval glasses are among the season’s favourites. The soft oval shape suits a wide range of facial features and appears in both lightweight metal and more striking acetate. Creative variations give this familiar shape a fresh twist.

“Oval glasses come in many different styles, from upward- or downward-curving shapes to elongated, almond-shaped and cat-eye designs. Each one brings out facial features in a different way, so it is worth trying a few options with an expert,” says Leinemann.

Elegant retro styles update the classics

Aviator frames, already a favourite in sunglasses, and timeless cat-eye frames now have an air of understated elegance. Softer, shallower shapes give both classics a fresh update.

“Aviator frames feature teardrop shapes, combinations of materials, oversized designs and double bridges. Cat-eye glasses are becoming more subtle, with the traditional silhouette blending into an oval shape. The upward curve gives the look a distinctive lift,” Leinemann explains.

Statement style meets comfort

Statement glasses are still in fashion, but proportions and fit are carefully considered.

“Translucent acetate gives larger frames a fresher look. Materials are lighter, corners are softly rounded and lines are curved,” Leinemann explains.

Larger styles work particularly well with photochromic lenses. It is also worth browsing the sunglasses selection for frames, as prescription lenses can be fitted to almost all sunglass frames.

Understated lightness with a distinctive twist

Alongside oversized statement glasses, the autumn and winter collections feature an array of increasingly lightweight metal frames. Metal glasses in soft gold, matt silver, champagne and light bronze are almost unnoticeable on the face.

Rimless or thin frames get a distinctive twist from details such as coloured temple tips, decorative metal elements or an unusual bridge design.
