Ophthalmology Service

Who is an Ophthalmologist?

An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who diagnoses and treats various eye diseases. You can visit an ophthalmologist if you have symptoms or a previously diagnosed eye condition, but also for preventive check-ups. Family history, existing health conditions, age, or simply concerns about your vision are all valid reasons to book an eye exam.

At Eagle Vision, our ophthalmologists also perform initial eye exams for children under the age of 8. Early examinations ensure normal visual development and help detect any issues at an early stage.

What to Expect During an Ophthalmologist Appointment

  • The doctor will begin by asking about your general health, vision, and any symptoms.
  • A vision test will be performed, and your intraocular pressure will be measured.
  • A slit lamp (biomicroscope) will be used to examine the internal structures of your eyes.
  • If necessary, an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scan will be done. This test provides a detailed image of the macula (the sharp vision area of the retina) and helps in making an accurate diagnosis.

At the end of your visit, the ophthalmologist will provide detailed treatment recommendations, issue prescriptions for medications or glasses, and refer you for further tests or procedures (such as eye surgery), if needed.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

  • The appointment lasts about 30 minutes.
  • Eye drops may be used to dilate your pupils, causing blurry vision for up to two hours – please do not drive to your appointment.
  • Bring any previous eyeglass prescriptions and relevant health information.
  • Avoid wearing contact lenses before the appointment.
  • Bring sunglasses, as your eyes may be sensitive to light after pupil dilation.

Pricing

A standard ophthalmologist consultation lasts 30 minutes and costs 95. Additional diagnostic tests may incur extra charges, which will be agreed upon with the doctor in advance.

Appointments can be conveniently booked online at the Eagle Vision website, via the national eBooking system (www.veebiregistratuur.ee), or by calling us at +372 661 2106.

If you’re unable to attend your appointment, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Rescheduling or cancellations are allowed in case of illness or other valid reasons.

Nationwide Eye Care Services

We offer ophthalmologist appointments in Tallinn, Tartu and Pärnu. Our team includes specialists for both adults and children, including comprehensive children’s eye exams.

Pediatric Eye Care

A pediatric ophthalmologist specializes in children’s visual development and eye health. If your child experiences persistent eye inflammation, vision problems, or other symptoms, it’s important to book an eye exam.

Children under 8 always receive their first eye check-up with a pediatric ophthalmologist. Early diagnosis helps prevent more serious issues and supports healthy visual development.
